Dr. “Dave” began his desire for helping animals growing up on a farm in south central Kansas. This desire led him to attend Kansas State University graduating with BS Biology and Molecular Genetics and then Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Following graduation, he traveled to Colorado and began work in a large animal mixed practice in Parker, Colorado. Following several close calls with horses, cows, pigs and emus, a change was made to focus on small animal medicine. From emergency medicine, relief work, owning a private practice, corporate industrial work, and then shelter medicine, Dr. Dave had many diverse experiences with our animal friends. He also enjoyed working and volunteering at Children’s Hospital in Denver (Initiated the Prescription Pet Program), Devine Feline spay/neuter/release, and working with Wildlife 2000 in conjunction with the Colorado Division of Wildlife performing the first chemical implant procedure to stabilize the urban beaver population in Denver.
Dr. Dave decided to change scenery and warm up moving to Naples (where he had visited often when his brother was stationed in Key West and Naples in the Navy), landing at Domestic Animal Services (DAS) of Collier County. From there on to private practice and relief work, finally now at Olde Naples Animal Wellness Center!
Now he enjoys hiking, biking and learning about all the new flora and fauna of Southwest Florida and watching the beautiful Gulf Coast sunsets.
